Tunnel Valeta is a part of future connection road between Piran and Portoroz with main design in progress. It is single tube two lane tunnel, 893 m in length with service tunnel 683 m long. It is located in flysch formations of the Slovene seaside region. On its east side a 120 m long precut was designed. Partially to enable a construction of soil stabilization to assure a minimal overburden of 3.0 m and partially to construct permanent retaining walls. The temporary stabilization consisted of shotcreting and rock bolting while final stabilization structure was designed as stone/concrete gravity wall. The maximum height of a designed slope is 25 m. On the west side a combination of high tensile strength steel mesh and reinforced earth was designed. The maximum height of reinforced earth is 10 m.
